5 Common Coding Myths

Every now and then, we get exposed to many information about coding. This information pops up from our social media feeds, friends and families and even coding professionals and they have influenced peoples' perception of coding. In this article, I am not only going to be bursting these myths but I am also going to help you understand why these perceptions are false.

Myth 1: Coding is for people who are good at math.

Being a math genius is not a prerequisite for knowing how to code or having a good understanding of coding. Anyone can learn coding. There are Coders all over the world who come from diverse backgrounds and they are good so if you are interested in learning coding, go for it. Do not let your background stop you from pursuing your coding interest because you are more than your background.

Myth 2: Artificial intelligence (AI) will replace coders.

This is a big myth because artificial intelligence was created to make many processes easier and faster and not to take over the roles of humans. Humans are important for the implementation and maintenance of systems. Hence, do not believe that AI will replace you, however, learn how to make use of it to be more efficient at your work. Learn the power and use of AI and let your coding journey be easier.

Myth 3: Coding is boring.

Any work or job can be boring. Saying that "coding is boring" should be considered a subjective statement. Building applications can be fun and it can have positive impacts on coders. Many coders build applications that have changed lives and made many processes more efficient so do not believe that coding is boring. Give it a try and see if you enjoy it.

Myth 4: Coding prevents you from having a work-life balance.

Again, any job can cause a discrepancy in work-life balance. Having a work-life balance is all about planning and sticking to your plan. Know when to start work and end work. Do not procrastinate so you don't have to work when you are not meant to. That way, you can have a healthy work-life balance as a coder.

Myth 5: Coding is just about writing codes.

While it is good and necessary to know how to write good codes, a code coder must know how to debug codes and understand algorithms. You must also be able to communicate your code in writing and speaking so coding is much more than just writing codes.

I hope you have been able to form a new perception of coding from the above explanation and the bursting of these coding myths. If you desire a coding skill, do not let these myths stop you from starting or discourage you from continuing your coding journey. You've got this!
